The observation:
When I go on social media, I see my feed, I don’t see your feed.
When you go on social media, you see your feed, you don’t see my feed.
Social media feeds are, in effect, “invisible”.
*Unless a friend, coworker, family member, lets us peek while they scroll.
Why this is important:
We can get stuck believing we’re all using the same platform, seeing the same things. Except we’re not.
We can get stuck believing our own social media feed is representative of the world. Except it’s not.
*Even if you, personally, knew better, the illusion captures many, and easily.
That’s where this project comes in!
The goal: to make the diversity of social media feeds visible.
The first targeted platform: LinkedIn.
